24 June, From Sarajevo to Trebinje: A Scenic Journey Through Sutjeska National Park

Our journey begins amidst the vibrant energy of Sarajevo, where East meets West in a captivating blend of cultures and traditions.

Our route takes us through the awe-inspiring landscapes toward Sutjeska National Park, a sanctuary of rugged mountains, ancient forests, and pristine rivers. Amidst this breathtaking wilderness lies the Valley of Heroes, a sacred ground that bears witness to the heroic struggle of the Partisan fighters during World War II. Here, nestled amidst the towering peaks, we pay our respects at the memorial complex dedicated to those who gave their lives in defense of freedom and justice.

As we bid farewell to Sutjeska National Park, our journey carries us southwards towards the charming town of Trebinje, nestled amidst the rolling hills and fertile valleys of Herzegovina. Along the way, we traverse winding mountain roads that offer panoramic views of the picturesque landscape, dotted with vineyards, orchards, and ancient villages. Trebinje has a rich history dating to the Middle Ages. Here we visit a family-owned winery and get a taste of life in old Herzegovina, venturing into the cellars to sample the rich, earthy, bold tastes of the red wines.

The wines of Herzegovina are among the newest in the second-world wine category. This tradition, however, has been in existence since Roman times. The sunny Mediterranean climate and rich hinterland soils here produce some of the finest wines in southern Europe.

We end the day with a dinner overlooking the old town.

Accommodation: Hotel Apis, Trebinje or similar
Meals: Lunch, Dinner

25 June, A Journey Through Time to Mostar, with Stops at Vjetrenica Cave and Blagaj Dervish Tekke

Our route takes us through the rugged landscapes of eastern Herzegovina, where hidden beneath the earth lies a realm of mystery and wonder: Vjetrenica Cave. As we venture into its depths, guided by expert spelunkers, we discover a world of stalactites, stalagmites, and underground rivers that have carved their way through the limestone over millennia. Illuminated by the soft glow of torchlight, we marvel at the intricate formations that adorn the cavern walls, each one a testament to the power and beauty of nature's handiwork.

Continuing our journey, we make our way to the tranquil village of Blagaj, nestled amidst the verdant hills and crystal-clear waters of the Buna River. Here, amidst the timeless beauty of nature, we encounter a place of spiritual significance: the Blagaj Dervish Tekke. Perched on the banks of the river, this ancient Sufi monastery has been a beacon of faith and contemplation for centuries, drawing pilgrims and seekers from near and far. The lunch will be organized next to the cold Buna River.

We will end the day in Mostar for an evening stroll through this majestic Herzegovina place. The city was founded in the 15th century and the architecture is a precious combination of Turkish ingenuity and Herzegovinian and Dalmatian workmanship. Mostar was a city split during the conflict of the early 1990s. We see the scars of war, but these days Mostar is once again a warm and bustling place with an intriguing history.

End of the day in the beautiful traditional restaurant next to the Old Bridge, for an evening feast.

Accommodation: Hotel Almira, Mostar or similar
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

26 June, Neretva River Rafting Adventure

The water is calm during the summer months, and the trip provides ample opportunity to enjoy the canyon and its unique flora and fauna. Depending on the season, there will be class II-IV rapids. The trip lasts for approximately 4 hours with breaks for swimming and a snack. Lunch will be provided at the end of the day overlooking the Neretva River and Konjic Old Bridge.

In the late afternoon, you can indulge yourself with a sauna, swim in the pool or just chill out with a cold drink next to the Neretva river.
