TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

  • The largest waterfall in BiH - height of 98 meters
  • Endemic flora and fauna
  • Enchanted forest

We’ll take a 30 minutes drive north from Sarajevo to the village of Nahorevo, named after a German (Nahor) who was a shepherd hundred of years ago in this neatly tucked valley. From the foothills below Seven Sources, we’ll begin a medium-difficulty hike along a mountain road to the top of the waterfall. The Skakavac Waterfall (The name skakavac means grasshopper in Bosnian) is the largest continually flowing waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina at a height of 98 meters.

A soothing break and some tea or coffee await us here before we head down through thick beech forests to the base of the waterfall. From below, we have a fantastic view of water, mist, and forest. As we begin our journey back, we wind our way back through the forest to the village, and perhaps down to the hunting lodge for an ice cold drink. This moderately cool hike is a nice refreshing break from the hot summer months as we are graced with a wonderful view of Grasshopper Waterfall and continue our hike through the shade in the pine and beech forests.

The area is full of beautiful waterfalls, views of Sarajevo, medieval gravestones, wildlife and is a truly amazing place in nature so close to Sarajevo.
